Python FTGL Bindings

I’ve just released PyFTGL which makes it possible to take advantage of FreeType and FTGL to render text in OpenGL program using TrueType, Type 1 or OpenType fonts. PyFTGL wraps the functionality of FTGL into a Python module so it can be used in conjunction with PyOpenGL.

Note that the bindings are still in alpha: they will work if you use them correctly, it’s just the error checking that’s currently missing.

Hi, thx for writing this small wrapper module. It would be realy important for me to get a binary download also (have troubles compiling).

I’m writing a small gui api where i want to use your ftgl commands, for users of the api it would be important to have a binary download for the common systems (linux/windows/mac?).

    best regards,

Any chance of releasing PyFTGL in a more permissive license? FTGL uses LGPL and a BSD-like license…
