As you might see (if you’re reading this 24th of July) I have marked this day with its own custom header image just like I’ve already done 4th and 14th of July. But this time it isn’t a national holiday that is observed — but in my opinion one of the most important dates in the human exploration of space. An event that is often overshadowed by everything that led up to it.

Since the meme of the month is “long tail”, I’m just gonna say it: Long Tail.
I think I just found some stylesheet issue with the Kubrick CSS. It is fully possible I introduced the problem myself, but I don’t think so mainly because a) I can’t recall touching any of the affected rules and b) I’ve experienced the same problem on other sites.
What I’m talking about is the font size in Opera 9 on GNU/Linux PPC compared to Opera 9 on GNU/Linux x86 and Firefox on both platforms. The later two cases render the site as the designer intended, while the first render it with xx-small as standard font (or something). It is possible the dpi difference between x86 and my iBook comes into play, and Firefox fixes it somehow while Opera don’t… I don’t know… I’m confused.
Well it isn’t an issue I’m planning to investigate and fix right now. My long term plan is to switch from WordPress and Kubrick to my own design and software anyway. So if the issue pop up its ugly head in the future, then I might be inclined to deal with it.

Just noticed that last.fm got a real face lift, it’s soo shiny… The downside: it take a tad longer to load the pages than on the old site even in Opera (the browser… not any section on last.fm). But from my quick look, apart from the new look, there is some good improvement. I think they managed to making it even more social by increasing the personal value that in turn increases the network value, which is a good thing.
I don’t know if Wired editors spend just as much time figuring out clever headlines as I do. But this time they managed to get an occasional snicker out of this AP piece: “Enron’s Lay Dies Suddenly”.
My first thought was, what ladies?
