Outing

I’ve been out of town since last week, where I don’t have access to my email account. That’s the resons for lack of replys to email sent my way. Thanks!

Undeaf

The buildup in my ear finally flooded out like an avalanche. Quite yucky if you try to imagine it, so please don’t. As it turn out I now got better hearing on my left ear than my right in the high frequency domain…

I’ve just begun reading ESR’s The Art of Unix Programming, it’s not a technical book than more of a cultural odyssey about unconsciously shared knowledge.

Deaf

I’m temporarily deaf on my left ear because of a gigantic wax-buildup. I noticed it yesterday and tried to poke it out, put it just did everything worse, so I went by the pharmacist and bought real ear clensing. But the buildup is still there after one treatment. It scare me because I need to get rid of it ’til monday when I’m hop on the train, traveling from the highland to the sealevel which include the need to preasurise properly. Ok, that’s enough whining for today.

I just read ESR’s Hacking and Refactoring and other essays on his blog.

Palli CT and MC Klaus in da House!

Ok, I have dug up more old digitized video. This time also from Gamleby School of Broadcasting, a music video by the Gamleby gangsta rappers. However, I had very little to do with the creations of it, except flashing some light … you know once a gaffer always a gaffer. All credits is due to Pelle Eriksson, Klas Eriksson, and Daniel Nyquist.

Here’s the video: Gamleby Gangstas in RealVideo since that was all the rage in 1998. Beware that it’s in swedish and intended to be ironic. Maybe hard to understand if you never experienced Gamleby.

Warning!

I have recieved a “Mail Delivery System” error message from a email message I didn’t send. Apparently someone tried to send a message containing the Sobig.F virus in an attachment using my email address in the from line. I’m investigating the abuse since that practice violates both US Federal law as well as European and Swedish law.

Appology

I’m sick and tired of people emailing around MS Word documents. When are they gona learn? Either send it as plaintext (when it’s short and you don’t need formatting) or send it as a PDF file. All operating systems I use (KDE/GNU/Linux and MacOS X) can print documents to a PDF-file from the printing dialog. So why can’t they? I’m thinking about pen down a guide to common sense for regular computer users, those who used to be known as lusers in the MIT ITS era.

I might have sounded harsh in the last post. But between last weeks power outage and virus infections I found that if we could convert moronity into electricity we would have an eternal energy source.

One Finger Salute

In times like this, when people ask me if I got infected by the latest worm, I get to hold many lectures on why I consider people insisting on using MS Windows morons and why they should switch to Linux (Ark Linux, Gentoo) or just get a Mac.

On a related issue, I found this via a banner that pissed me off — for about two seconds — until I realized how well crafted the site is and that probably a majority of MS Windows users will find it beliveable.
